We made it to Thursday! Happy Summer!

Please see the attached heat sheet to know what your swimmer is seeded in tonight. Coach Joy entered kids into multiple events, this does not mean they have to swim every event! A mock meet goes much quicker and there will be about 1/4-1/6 of the swimmers we will have during a dual meet with all ages. Encourage your swimmer to try, even if they have not been able to swim the length of the pool yet. We will have coaches in the water as needed.

Some info for our younger and new swimmers:

1. They do not have to jump off the blocks, they can jump off the side or lower themselves into the water.

2. Freestyle allows for stopping and holding the lane ropes. As long as the swimmer does not use the rope to pull themselves down the pool or stand on the bottom, they will not DQ.

3. Backstroke starts in the water. Kids can not touch the bottom or pull themselves along the rope. They cannot turn onto their fronts. They can hold an arm above their head to touch the wall, but cannot turn over to look for it.

4. The 7+ group can try out breaststroke and Fly. They will likely DQ if they have not tried these stokes before. There are a lot of technicalities involved and the coaches will be able to focus on these aspects in future practices. Keep encouraging your kids to try these strokes and they will likely be able to get a successful swim and time by a few meets in.

5. Thunder... the weather is iffy and we will be communicating via Remind. Please download this app to get all of the updates throughout swim season. We are planning to start pictures at 3 pm. Please try to get your Waverunner(s) here by 3:40 for the team picture and to get in their shirt for that, all ages.

6. It would be really great for the older kids to come cheer on the younger Waverunners!
