5/24 Mock Meet Recap, and RSVP for First Meet by 5/25 at 2PM!
Hi Waverunners!
Last night’s Mock Meet was so much fun! I hope your swimmers enjoyed it. Thank you to all of you for getting your swimmers there for the picture, and the older swimmers who stayed, encouraged and helped out. Really appreciate all of the volunteers - some of our families had double duty. Sara Kroening, our Head Volunteer Chair, was so appreciative of everyone pitching in and having such a positive attitude. Thank you to all volunteers for coming, learning your role and our seasoned volunteers for helping out - we couldn’t have a swim meet without you!
Thank you to . . .
- Jenn Gaulding, our Spirit Chair head, for the incredible work with me on t-shirt design, and then her organizing all of the merchandise orders for our families. Thank you to Trader Joe’s for donating the bags - please support them!
- Set-Up - Mary Mason, for her work on set up and the committee members that helped.
- Starter, Pat Todebush - loved all of the fun music and the positive energy you provided to make the meet so fun for all swimmers.
- Concessions - Ilene Roberts - you did an amazing job! Thank you for all your work on concessions. Thank you swim team for supporting our concessions!
I have attached last night’s meet results. Do not be discouraged if your swimmer has a DQ/disqualified for a stroke. This is why we practice. Our coaches have the DQ information and will be looking to help improve. We also have Stroke Clinics coming up on next Saturday, June 1st - sign up HERE if you would like to have some extra practice.
Stroke Clinics: Did your swimmer DQ last night? Need some extra help with a stroke? Sign up for a stroke clinic (or two)! $15 per session, per swimmer. :)
- To register for a stroke clinic on Saturday, June 1st - click HERE
- 9am - 10am: : Backstroke & Freestyle (5 - 10yrs)
- 10am - 11am: Breaststroke & Butterfly (7 and up)
- More clinics to be added for 6/8 & 6/15 – stay tuned!
Note from Coach Quinn: “That was a good start to the season! We have room to improve and grow. I hope everyone took something away from the Mock Meet. So excited to start morning practices on Tuesday.”
Swim Buddies - We have a new program for our 6 and under swimmers where they are paired with an older swimmer (13 and up) to check on them throughout the season and give them encouragement, be available for questions, and just a friendly face. The older swimmers are so excited about having a swim buddy! If your swimmer was not here last night, they will meet their buddy soon.
ACTION ITEM:
RSVP for Thursday’s Away Meet vs. Berkeley Hills Country Club . RSVP HERE by Saturday 5/25 @ 2pm
- To RSVP: Go to MEETS & EVENTS→BERK HOSTS PCNM DUAL MEET →MEET ENTRY→EDIT→SAVE
- Under ‘notes for coach’ you may write 3 preferred individual strokes. Please know that these are suggestions only and the coaches may have to place your child into a different stroke when seeding the meet.
- We need all families to RSVP for this meet. As of this afternoon - we have 62 swimmers not entered yet. Our volunteer board needs time to prepare and print all of the meet documents for Monday. If you do not RSVP, you will not be entered into the meet! You do this through the Swimtopia website.
- We’ve opened the remaining 5 dual meets, so if you happen to know your schedule for the next weeks, RSVP for those meets too! – you can always update the rsvp later if your schedule changes.
All swimmers swim up to 3 individual events and potentially 2 relay events.. New 6 and under swimmers may only swim 2 individual events (backstroke, freestyle).
Thank you all! Looking forward to our practices and fun next week at our first dual swim meet!
