Swim Team Registration is Now Open!
Dear Waverunners,
Registration for the 2022 swim season is now open!
REGISTRATION: Registration for Swim Team is now open! This year our registration will include our Jr. Waverunners again! Yay! The Jr. Waverunner program is for new and emerging swimmers. To register, click HERE.
PRACTICES: Practice will begin Monday, May 9th. Full schedule of practices is linked HERE. (Depending on the number of swimmers registered, we may have to alter the practice times slightly. As we get closer to May 9th we will let you know if these times will change.)
MEETS: The Mock Meet is scheduled for May 26th (will include all swimmers). We will swim four dual meets in June (June 2nd, 9th, 16th & 23rd), two of which will be home meets and two will be away meets! And we’ll end the season with a Time Trial on June 27th, for any swimmers that want to improve their times before county. The times from all six events (mock meet, 4 dual meets, and the time trial) will count towards county. We should get our meet schedule from GCSL sometime in mid-April.
COUNTY MEET: July 8th - 10th at Georgia Tech Aquatic Center (for swimmers that qualify).
HEAD COACHES: We are excited to have Amy Lokhorst and Henry Sapough as our Head Coaches. Both Amy and Henry have grown up swimming for the Waverunnners and they were Assistant Coaches on the team last year. Coach Quinn is also returning as an Assistant Coach. Welcome back coaches!
ASSISTANT COACHES & INTERNS: If you are 13 & up and are interested in being an assistant coach, junior coach or intern please apply HERE. The deadline for the application is Sunday, March 13th at 9pm. The number of coaches we hire will be based upon the number of registered swimmers our team has.
VOLUNTEERING: Calling all parents! We are THRILLED to plan fun and exciting events for our swim team this summer, but we cannot do it without parent involvement!! Among our typical volunteer opportunities, there will be new events and areas in which we will need help. Some events will take place on different days/times than the swim meets, so we are asking you to not only commit to volunteering at meets, but to also come together with the Swim Team Board to make these events a success for the entire team! Please read through the volunteer options carefully when registering your child(ren) and email Mallory Even with any questions. [email protected]
COVID: We will follow all Gwinnett County Swim League (GCSL) requirements and we will monitor the CDC guidelines, but at this time we anticipate our summer swim team returning to normal. Coaches will be in the water teaching our swimmers and we will not enforce social distancing. Our coaches will not be required to wear masks and masks will be optional for all swimmers and parents. We will offer food for sale at swim meets and we will have social events again!
FUNDRAISER: This year we are asking for donations so we can install a team record board at our pool! We have some AMAZING swimmers on our team, both past and present! We want to honor them and to inspire our current swimmers to break a team record! Click HERE to see a proof of our records board, and please donate $25 to help us raise the money to install it by our first meet! Thanks!!
