If my daughter were home, I could tell you how many days until the pool opens, how many days of school are left, and how many days until swim team starts. 

Here are my top ten reasons to join our swim team, in random order...

1. The thrills of the littlest swimmer making it across the pool for the first time and the biggest swimmers beating a team record and dancing around like they are still 8 year olds, instead of 18.

2. Swimming against your neighbors in a friendly swim meet.  You know, all the kids from preschool or soccer or scouts who join a different swim team.

3.  A full sleeve, thanks to Sharpie. 

4. The party lane, somehow brought to you by T-mobile.

5. Swimming a race well after bedtime.

6. The back of an SUV turned into an all out party during a rain delay.  How many 9 year old girls are back there?

7. Learning a life long, and life saving skill.

8. Sitting in the bullpen with all your summer buddies.

9. Organizing the 7-8 boys into a relay.

10.  Watching your kid come from behind in the last leg of a close relay.
